Seekprotocol has always been about the walk: you go somewhere, you catch what is there, and it is yours. Seek Arena gives that collection somewhere to go. It is a live card game inside the app, one player against another in real time, built on the same map and the same coins you already hunt.

A match is quick to learn. Each player brings a deck of twenty cards and draws an opening hand of five. If you do not like your hand, you can shuffle it back once for free before your first move; the game calls that a ReSEEK. Every turn runs on a 45 second clock, so nobody sits and waits. The first player to knock out five of the other's cards wins.

There are more than 260 cards to collect across six rarities, from Common to Mythic, and nine factions, from the Bulls that grow while they stand on the board to the Bears that take things off the enemy. Every card has an ability of its own, so a deck is a plan rather than a pile of the biggest numbers you own. The rarer the card, the more it relies on what it does rather than on raw attack and defence.

Cards come from the same places your coins do. Boxes appear on the hunting map, and catching them earns card points. Packs open with the SEEK you catch, from Basic to Premium to Elite, and the pricier the pack, the rarer the cards; you can also buy packs in the shop. Quests, clan wars and the season add more. If you have duplicates, you can trade with friends one for one at the same rarity, or melt the extras into XP.

You do not have to play for rank straight away. The Practice Bot is always there and its matches do not count, and Seek Academy walks you through the rules one step at a time. When you are ready, find an opponent, or challenge a friend directly.

Clans fight too. Every week, Monday to Monday, the eligible matches of everyone in a clan add up to one shared standing: three points for a win and one for a draw. It is the clearest reason yet to play with the people you already hunt with. Above all of it sits a ladder of 57 ranks, from Beginner all the way to World Champion, with daily, weekly and season quests along the way.

Seek Arena plays on any phone the app runs on, and it was laid out for the bigger screen as well. On an iPad in landscape the board takes the whole display, with side panels and cards up to 2.2 times larger, and in portrait your deck sits beside your collection. There is more about that in our post on Seekprotocol for iPad and tablets.

To play, update the app and open the Arena from the home screen. The cards are waiting on the same streets as the coins.
